About ME

Max Michael miller

My name is Max Miller, I’m a fashion designer focused on building garments that sit between craftsmanship and wearable art. I’m currently studying fashion design at Indiana University, where I’ve developed a strong foundation in patternmaking, construction, and textile manipulation.

My work is driven by an interest in organic forms and the tension between chaos and control. I’m drawn to techniques like smocking, distressing, and structural manipulation, using them to create pieces that feel both natural and engineered. I approach each garment as a process, where repetition, material, and construction shape the final outcome as much as the original idea.

I see clothing as functional art, something that can be lived in while still carrying weight and intention. I’m especially interested in pushing heavy materials like denim into more sculptural, expressive forms while keeping the garments wearable. Long term, I want to work in a design environment that values innovation, craftsmanship, and the development of new silhouettes and techniques.
